We are pleased to be working with new venue partners Summerhall and The Studio at the Festival Theatre in Edinburgh, as well as the Norwich Puppet Theatre, to present MANIPULATE  2020, 31 Jan – 08 Feb 2020.

This move has enabled us to showcase the work of more Scottish-based artists than ever. During MANIPULATE over 40 theatre-makers and companies will present their initial creative explorations, works in progress and full productions. With these leading Edinburgh venues, we look forward to another exciting, stimulating and thought-provoking celebration of world-class Scottish and international visual theatre, puppetry and animated film.

Our new home for MANIPULATE at Summerhall promises a large variety of productions, workshops, works in progress, animated film screenings and cabaret performances. Over the nine-day festival, we will present full productions each evening, as well as informal free cabarets in the Summerhall Café from Monday 3 February.

The first Saturday of the festival sees us filling Summerhall’s spaces with a packed programme of theatre and animated film throughout the day and evening, where you can see short-form pieces, works in progress, film screenings and productions from award-winning Scottish and international artists. Use the schedule below to plan your path through the day’s events:

The Studio, where we will present three productions, is only a short ten-minute walk up Buccleuch Street, or a three-minute cycle ride. Please see the map below for directions.

Each evening from Monday 3 February – Saturday 8 February 2020 you can see, across both venues, two productions as well as free cabaret performances.

We will operate a shuttle service for travel between the two venues. You can find more information about this through our Access Information page.
