We are very pleased to announce the appointment of Dawn Taylor as Puppet Animation Scotland’s new artistic director and CEO.
Currently the producer for the You Are Here programme at Edinburgh International Festival, Dawn has extensive experience and expertise in artistic development, festival programming and management, cross-sector collaboration and socially engaged work. As one of Scotland’s leading younger cultural leaders, Dawn has worked on a wide range of large and complex projects with leading organisations – the Royal Lyceum Theatre, the National Theatre of Scotland, Imaginate, the Almeida Theatre and Roundhouse – as well as with artists that Puppet Animation Scotland supports, such as Paper Doll Militia and Tortoise in a Nutshell. Dawn will start with Puppet Animation Scotland in August.
On behalf of the Puppet Animation Scotland board, I’d like to thank and applaud Simon for his service to the organisation, for his unfailing support for artists, and for his tremendous work on behalf of our artforms. We are very sad to see him go but we wish him well for the next stage of his life and his career.
At the same time, we are delighted to welcome Dawn as our new Artistic Director and CEO. We were flattered by the quality of applications that we received, but Dawn emerged from the interview process as an exceptionally strong candidate. We were reassured by Dawn’s strategic acumen, her leadership style, and her concern for artists. And we were excited by her artistic vision. She also impressed with her resolve and her pragmatic ideas for helping our organisation to navigate the difficult circumstances that the arts sector finds itself in. The board and I look forward to supporting and working with her.
(Phil Adams, Chairperson, Puppet Animation Scotland).
