The delivery of creative and technical skills development opportunities at reasonable cost for Scottish-based puppeteers, physical theatre artists and animators, presented by leading UK and international theatre arts practitioners and filmmakers, has always been an integral part of what we do.

Every year we present workshops for professionals during MANIPULATE Festival, providing intensive, high-quality workshops for participants to enjoy, gain a lot of valuable information and experience from, and be inspired by. From October onwards after our programme launch, please visit our MANIPULATE Festival website for more information. From time to time we also arrange workshops through the rest of the year – please see our newsletter and socials for updates on these.

Our ticket fund was announced in 2021 as part of our MANIPULATE Festival launch. To ensure that all artists are able to develop their practice by attending visually led work, we provide funding to support the cost of your attendance. The work must fall clearly within Puppet Animation Scotland’s remit of puppetry, visual theatre or animated film and the applicant must be based in Scotland, and be an emerging or established professional in the arts. We can support the cost of a ticket, reasonable travel expenses and access costs. Funds will be available on a discretionary basis up to a maximum amount in each financial year. There is no application form to access this fund. Simply email [email protected] at least 2 weeks in advance of the date of the production, and detail your name and artistic discipline, the show, date and time, and which costs you would like us to cover. We will endeavour to let you know within 1 week if we are able to support your costs.

Our Creative Fund can pay for artists to undertake formal or informal professional training or skills development up to the cost of £5k. The fund can pay for training course costs, equipment, materials, travel, accommodation and artist time as required. For more information see our Develop & Create page with further details of the fund.
